Panacea
Pasados 15 años de residencia en Australia volví a mi Buenos Aires natal y desde el aeropuerto me dirigí sin escalas al Hospital Neuropsiquiátrico Borda, un monstruo y depósito de almas perdidas. Allí permanecí durante casi 5 años enseñando fotografía, haciendo la propia y noviando con otro voluntario con más de 10 años en el lugar.
Panacea reúne fotografías de mis otras vidas y mis otros mundos; sirviéndome de ellas para revelar el flujo de locura siempre presente en toda relación de amor. Ambos son estados ubicuos y producen una suerte de alquimia comprensiva del mundo que hasta entonces conocíamos, sin embargo la locura está suprimida de los discursos cotidianos y el amor está sobrexpuesto en todas sus distorsiones. Panacea enuncia estos discursos en primera persona.
After 15 years living in Australia I went back to my native Argentina and from the airport I aimed straight to Borda Neuropsychiatric Hospital, a monster and a soul’s warehouse. I lingered there for almost 5 years teaching photography, making my own and dating another volunteer that had been around for 10 years already.
Panacea gathers photographs from my other lives and my other worlds, making use of them to reveal the flux of madness always present in all relationship of love. Both are ubiquitous states and produce a kind of comprehensive alchemy of the world we thought we knew. Madness, however, is suppressed from everyday discourses while love is over-exposed in all it’s distortions. Panacea enunciates these discourses in the first person.
